I
can not think of one game that brings people of different sexes, ages
and game playing abilities together as well as Mario Kart. I''m talking
Super Nintendo, circa 1992, Mario Kart! That game was addictive... to
say the least. Sure, I missed most of the 7 or so versions of Mario
Kart since the original but now the Wii could bring me back! Mario
Kart Wii comes out on Sunday. The feature list sounds great, new
tracks, old tracks, a steering wheel to place your WiiMote into and
most importantly online play! I''m excited to check out Mario Kart Wii.
Nintendo
was kind of enough to drop a review copy of the game into the mailbox
earlier this week. It arrived on Thursday and the testing has begun!
My
first impressions are good! The graphics aren''t blowing me away but we
all know that''s not really what the Wii is all about. The included
wheel is fun but not all that easy to use. I found myself plugging in
my "classic" controller to control Mario Kart Wii the old fashioned
way. Nintendo actually gives you 5 different ways to control your
character, I love options! The new tracks are VERY cool though,
especially the one that takes you up the escalators, through the mall
and out into the parking lot. Online play works well although only
international players seem to be online right now. Obviously that
makes sense since it''s not sold in the US yet.
More to come on Good Day Utah on Monday morning. I''ll write much more here on my blog with more pictures later this weekend.
