If
you haven''t heard about WiiFit, chances are, you will soon! It''s the
latest addition to the Nintendo Wii. It hits store shelves on Monday.
We got our review copy today (Wednesday) and were anxious to rip open
the box and check it out (see unboxing video below.)
WiiFit
is a combination of a physical fitness/balance "game" along with the
Wii Balance Board. It''s a white step board that sits on your carpet
and communicates with the Wii via bluetooth. When you stand on it, the
Wii can sense your center of balance and your weight. Setup was as
easy as most Wii products. Pop in the batteries and hit the sync
button on the Wii and the Balance Board. Within seconds the BB was
ready to go. WiiFit first asks you to select which Mii you''d like to
use and then takes you through a basic setup. It takes a good 10
minutes to get through but it''s a good introduction to the system.
It''ll also ask for some basic info like age and weight. The best part
is when it tells you that you have the body of a 38 year old!!! Guess
what, I''m not 38! I guess I need to get working.
The BB is
pretty cool and works really well. There are a slew of aerobic
workouts that you can following along with as well as balance games,
strength exercises and yoga! A trainer (you select male or female)
guides you through the entire process. Everything is tracked on WiiFit
too so you can set goals for yourself and WiiFit will help you reach
it.
I haven''t had a ton of time to spend on WiiFit but so
far, so good! The BB seems to work pretty well and the exercises I
tried (push-ups, jogging, balancing games and the yoga half-moon) got
me winded! If you''re curious what comes with WiiFit, check out my
un-boxing video below. I''ll have more info on the "game" itself in the
next few days. Look for some on-air demonstrations on Monday''s Good
Day Utah!
